Business Directory Listing Guidelines

To ensure the Business Directory remains relevant, accurate and valuable for local users, listings must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility

• Businesses must be located within Hobsons Bay, either by:
• • having an ABN registered in Hobsons Bay, or
  • operating a physical business premises within Hobsons Bay.

• Businesses located outside Hobsons Bay may be considered only where they facilitate recurring, in-person group activities at a consistent Hobsons Bay venue (such as workshops, classes or programs). Businesses offering individual or mobile services (e.g. in-home or on-site visits) are not eligible for inclusion unless their ABN is registered in Hobsons Bay.

Business Requirements

• Businesses must be currently operating and actively trading.
• Listings must represent legitimate businesses with a valid ABN.
• Home-based businesses may be included where they provide a service to the public, but full residential addresses are not required to be publicly displayed.

Content Guidelines

• All listing information must be:
• • accurate, current and complete
  • written in a professional and appropriate tone
  • free of misleading or exaggerated claims
• Council reserves the right to edit content for clarity, consistency and style.
• Listings must not include:
• • offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate language
  • political messaging or advocacy
  • unrelated advertising or excessive promotional content

Images and Media

• Businesses are encouraged to upload high-quality images that reflect their products, services or location.
• Images must be owned by the business or used with appropriate permission and must not infringe copyright.

Approval and Maintenance

• All listings are subject to review and approval before publication.
• Council reserves the right to decline, remove or update listings at its discretion.
• Businesses are responsible for keeping their information up to date and reviewing listings periodically.

Exclusions

• The directory may exclude:
• • businesses operating primarily outside Hobsons Bay without a local service presence
  • inactive or unverified businesses
  • listings that duplicate existing entries
  • businesses that do not comply with relevant laws or regulations
