Proud Products has a long and proud Australian heritage dating back almost 100 years.

It all started back in the 1930s when Charles Henry Goodall was involved in the research and distillation of eucalyptus oil. It wasn’t long before he bought a small soap factory in Fitzroy that made a brand of soap called “Red Star”.

In the 1940s his business was registered as the “Chemical Refining Company”, where he continued distilling eucalyptus oil and making Red Star soap.

Fast forward to the early 1970s, Charles’ son, Leigh, acquired a brand called “Lightning” and the company changed it’s name to Lightning Products. Lightning was most well-known by mechanics for it’s industrial hand cleaner “Scrubber”.

In the 1980s Leigh utilised natural raw materials to further develop the company’s cleaning product range by adding orange peel oil distillation to the company’s expertise.

Lightning Products was originally based in Williamstown from the 1970s up until 2004 when a need for a larger factory was required to increase production – hence a move to the current site at 47 Burns Road, Altona.

In 2018, Lightning Products, the industrial and automotive side of the business, was sold to Penrite Oil; and it was time for a new era to begin.

“Proud Products Pty Ltd” launched on 1 November 2018 focusing on a core range of laundry and household cleaning products. Our signature brand is “Euca” — most commonly renowned for 100% soluble laundry powder.

Proud Products will now focus on custom formulations and packaging for other companies that require superior products under their own name and package choice.
