Love:Local Expression of Interest

Love:Local Stories celebrates the people, places and passion behind Hobsons Bay’s local businesses. It shines a light on the local business owners who smile at you every day, greet you by name, and help make our neighbourhoods feel like home — giving you the chance to get to know them, and their stories, a little better.

From long-standing family enterprises to new and emerging traders, Love:Local Stories shares the journeys, values and community connections that shape our local shopping strips and precincts. It’s about recognising the role local businesses play in our daily lives and celebrating the people who keep our communities thriving.

The Love:Local campaign will feature businesses throughout the year via ad hoc social media stories, business profiles on Hobsons Bay Business, and via Council newsletters. Story topics may include: 

  • seasonal campaigns
  • category features 
  • new or recently established businesses
  • businesses linked to Council initiatives or awareness campaigns
  • innovative approaches that respond to current community challenges

Want to be featured?

All Hobsons Bay businesses are welcome to submit an EOI for consideration. Opportunities to showcase businesses are limited. Submission of an EOI does not guarantee selection or participation in the Love:Local campaign.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a business must:

  • Be a legal entity with an ABN, ACN or be incorporated
  • Be based within Hobsons Bay with a physical shopfront
  • Have no outstanding debts to Council
  • Be compliant with all relevant local, state and/or federal legislation
  • Not conflict with Council values
  • Not have been featured within the last 12 months.

There are three main criteria to determine businesses being featured:

  • Suitability - The business meets eligibility requirements and aligns with Council values.
  • Availability - Preference will be given to businesses that best meet the suitability and relevance criteria at the time of selection.  
  • Relevance - The business aligns with the scheduled feature including current events, projects or topical campaigns.
