This festive season, Hobsons Bay City Council is celebrating our amazing local businesses with the 2025 Christmas Shop Local Competition.

Competition details

Simply spend $30 or more at any eligible Hobsons Bay retail or service business between 24 November and 21 December 2025, tell us in 25 words or less what you love about shopping local, and submit your entry for a chance to win!

Prizes: Three winners will each receive a $300 gift voucher to spend at a Hobsons Bay business of their choice.

Entries open at 9am on 24 November and close 6pm on Sunday 21 December 2025. Winners will be announced by 23 December 2025.

Information for businesses 

  • Eligible retail and service businesses simply need to provide customers with a receipt for their purchase.  No further action is required from the business. 
  • The purchase and receipt must be from a retail or service business that has a shopfront in Hobsons Bay.
  • Purchases and receipts from ‘Big Box’ retailers (ie. Bunnings, Big W, Kmart) and supermarkets will not be accepted.  
  • Receipts must show: 
  • The name of the business and ABN number 
  • The date of purchase 
  • Confirmed payment method 
  • Handwritten receipts will not be accepted
