Getting tested for COVID-19

The State Government, on advice from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has stated that all Victorians should get tested with Rapid Antigen Tests as a first option.

If you have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) including fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and loss of sense of smell or taste, please get tested. If your rapid antigen test comes back positive you must report your result online or by calling 1800 675 398.

Rapid antigen tests are provided at some Victorian testing centers. If you are a household or household-like contact without symptoms and have received a rapid antigen test to use, you must still continue your 7-day isolation. You can use a rapid antigen test on the day you collected the test and Day 6 of your isolation period.

If you have symptoms or you are a contact, and you can't access a rapid antigen test, you should get a PCR test. If you are unable to access a rapid antigen or PCR test you must isolate and stay home.

Visiting your local GP 

Call your local general practitioner before you visit. They may refer you to a pathology provider or a testing site in the area for the test.
