Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme: Renewable power incentives
This scheme provides a financial incentive for small businesses to install renewable energy systems, such as solar panel systems.
When you install an eligible system, you can be awarded Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) based on:
- the amount of renewable electricity the system produces or the amount of electricity consumption it reduces; and
- the climate region where it’s installed.
Owners can then receive a financial benefit for their STCs, as they can be sold to recoup a portion of the cost of purchasing and installing the system. STCs are tradable certificates which you can create and trade yourself, or assign the right to create to a registered agent in exchange for an upfront discount off the cost of your system or a cash payment.
Although it sounds complicated, once set up, STCs discounts will generally be applied directly to your quote by the supplier.
